In Florida, custody is divided into two separate categories: time-sharing and parental responsibilities.

Time-sharing: This is the amount of time that a child or children spend with each parent. There are three types of plans that parents can submit to the court, including the following: 

• Equal time-sharing – the child spends an equal amount of overnight stays with both parents. 
• Majority time-sharing – the child spends more overnight stays with one parent than the other.
